The Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) has interesting news for organizations seeking to set up in Goa. They're planning to auction off 27 industrial plots in Latambarcem and four commercial plots in Verna.
For the Latambarcem plots, GIDC is putting a spotlight on the food processing industries. This means only companies involved in making food and beverages can join the e-auction for these 27 plots. However, there's a catch – no meat processing or fish meal plants will be allowed in Latambarcem.
GIDC recently introduced fresh rules for land allotment, transfer, and sub-lease. These rules permit the auctioning of 20% of industrial plots. This move is part of GIDC's effort to encourage investment in the region.
The e-auction, happening on the NIC platform, is scheduled from April 1st to 5th. The commercial space in Verna available for e-auction is 11,828 square meters, while the Latambarcem industrial plots cover a total area of 38,854 square meters. The sizes of the plots range from 740 to 2559 square meters.
Looking beyond Latambarcem, GIDC has plans to auction 16 more industrial plots in Verna Industrial Estate, totaling 2.39 lakh square meters. Bids for these plots will be based on the land premium, with a subsidized annual lease rent.
The announcement of the e-auction conveniently coincides with the Invest Goa Summit at Dona Paula. GIDC is hoping to attract investors interested in setting up manufacturing plants in the state.
GIDC sees the auctioning of prime industrial land as part of its strategy for value-capture financing. This means the revenue generated from the auction will be reinvested to further the development goals of the industrial sector in Goa
